Fall 2020 Updates

and Spring 2021 Flex/Flag!

UpdatedSunday August 23, 2020 bySusan Unger.

We hope you and your families are well and enjoying the rest of summer. Despite the disappointment of our Fall season being cancelled, our boards of directors have been hard at work putting together options for not only this fall, but for spring as well. Here is some important information regarding the fall cancellation, fall clinics, and spring flex.

1. Fall cancellation and refunds.

Please check your emails for refund information. Remember to respond to the email by September 15.

2. Jersey Distribution

Jersey distribution will be Wednesday, September 2 from 5:30 - 7:30. Location to come, so please continue to check your emails. We ask that Parents and athletes drive up to the station and remain in their cars. One of the coaches will bring your jersey to you. We will follow all COVID safety guidelines, and will be gloved and masked for distribution.

3.  Fall Conditioning Clinics

We are excited to announce that we will be offering a 6 week conditioning clinic starting in early September! The clinic is open to all kids in grades K-8. No football experience necessary. This clinic will be a great way to keep our current athletes engaged and having fun while staying fit, and we welcome friends and kids who don't play tackle too! The clinic will follow all COVID guidelines, and we will post an updated COVID policy soon. Check back soon for dates and registration information.

4.  Spring Flex/Flag

We are excited to offer Flex/Flag program this spring as we did last year. It was wildly successful, and a great way to keep our teams together under the guidance of their coaches while welcoming new players as well! Games will be Sunday afternoons into early evenings, and will take place in Marlboro. Practices can be right before the games, or can take place during the week based on how each coach wants to run their teams. Flex is very similar to Flag. It’s fun, fast-paced, and kids learn football skills in a non-contact environment. For experienced players, it’s an opportunity to develop their skills, run their offense, and try out new plays.

Although our fall season was cancelled, we see bright things on the horizon! MYF and NYFC purchased 100 brand new Riddell Speedflex helmets, our shoulder pads were reconditioned, and we are optimistic about a great future for our teams and athletes. Have a safe and healthy fall and we hope to see everyone out on the field soon!
